Optimizing soil conditions

One of the functions of GST Biostar is to aerate the soil, which means breaking up compacted or compressed soil layers. This is especially beneficial for new plants as it creates a more hospitable environment for their roots to grow and thrive.

Additionally, the machine helps in breaking the topsoil by loosening the crust. This provides better air and water penetration, establishing optimal soil conditions for plant growth.

Specially developed for weed control

The rotary hoe breaks the surface and loosens the soil with the outer spades of the star wheel. The spades then remove or cover weeds in the early stages of growth without affecting crop growth. Thus, the soil is aerated and the weeds are dried out.

Yes, virtually all crops to a certain height. GST Biostar digs up everything down to a depth of about 3 cm / 1.2 inches, so when a plant has root growth deeper than 4 – 6 cm / 1.6 – 2.4 inches, the machine can be used regardless of the crop.

Yes, the speed throws the soil on the tip of the star wheel up in the air, and spreads it over the smaller weeds that the star wheel do not dig up – the star wheels dig up about 30%, the rest is covered by soil. Speeds around 15 – 25 km/h / 9.3 – 15.5 mph is ideal.

The yield loss is dependent on your wheel fitment on the tractor and of course the crop you are working in. Under normal conditions it is typically 0-2% – add to this the positive effect of the loose soil crust which increases the utilization of nitrogen.

The star wheels are designed in a way that makes the machine gentle on the crop, as the crop needs to have a height of at least 3 cm / 1.2 inches, which makes it possible for the crop to bend and avoid being uprooted by the machine.
